M5 World Championship – Day 8: Identical Results To Day 7
By Lewis "lickety" Larcombe|December 11, 2023|0 Comment
Day 2 of the Knockouts in the M5 World Championship mirrored the outcomes of Day 1, as the favoured teams managed to advance despite facing tough opposition. The pattern of a 3-1 series win on Day 1 was replicated on Day 2, followed by an intense 3-2 match where all four teams were determined to secure their progress.
AP.Bren extended their winning streak by defeating See You Soon 3-1, securing a spot in the Upper Bracket Semi-Finals. Despite the loss, Cambodia’s representatives can take pride in winning a game against the Hornets, marking the first team to do so in the M5 World Championship. In Game 3, MPL Philippines Season 12 champions regained control by surprising everyone with an Odette pick, leading to a comfortable 11-minute victory. AP.Bren continued their momentum in Game 4, applying strong map pressure to secure the win.
In a five-game showdown reminiscent of their MPL ID full-match series days, Geek Fam outlasted Burmese Ghouls, setting the stage for an exciting clash against AP.Bren. With Manuel “Nnael” Simbolon suspended for two series, Geek Fam fielded Mark “Markyyyyy” Capacio as the jungler and substituted Dwi “Caderaa” Chandra in the gold lane. Despite a 1/8/6 KDA, Baloyskie was named MVP in Game 1, which Geek Fam won. Burmese Ghouls fought back in Game 2, but Geek Fam displayed mental fortitude to secure victories in Games 4 and 5, setting the stage for a crucial match between See You Soon and Burmese Ghouls in the Lower Bracket.
The latter you can catch live today as the action continues with eliminations on the horizon for Fire Flux Esports, Blacklist International, See You Soon and Burmese Ghouls.
