Immortals of Aveum Receives Substantial Price Drop Within Months Of Launch

The first-person fantasy shooter, Immortals of Aveum, experienced a significant price reduction shortly after its initial release, providing excellent value for those seeking a distinctive spell-based gaming experience.

Despite facing challenges in sales, the game’s developer, Ascendant Studios, remains committed to supporting it. Recent updates have introduced new content, enhancements, and a New Game Plus mode.

Setting itself apart, Immortals of Aveum is noteworthy for being the first AAA game to leverage cutting-edge technologies in Unreal Engine 5. This choice offers a fresh and immersive gameplay experience tailored for fantasy enthusiasts.

Originally released on 22 August, Immortals of Aveum marked the debut of Ascendant Studios, founded by industry veterans, including former Dead Space creative director Bret Robbins. Despite the game’s innovative use of Unreal Engine 5 features like Nanite, Lumen, and Niagara, it struggled to attract a substantial player base and faced poor sales.

The game recently underwent a substantial price reduction on the Microsoft online store, allowing Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers in the U.S. to acquire the Deluxe Edition at a discounted price. Although the initial deep discount is no longer available, the Deluxe Edition is still on sale for US$31.99, providing good value for gamers interested in a unique first-person experience centred around magic-based gameplay, with an engaging narrative and setting for fantasy fans.

Due to Immortals of Aveum’s underwhelming sales, Ascendant Studios had to lay off almost half of its team in September. However, the CEO, Bret Robbins, assured players of ongoing support for the title and hinted at potential future attention to the original IP. While the duration of Ascendant Studios’ support remains uncertain, the recent Echollector Update (also known as update 1.0.6.0) demonstrated the developer’s commitment to meeting player expectations. This update introduced new playable content, gear, performance improvements, and the addition of a New Game Plus mode.
