After Arcane, What’s Next For League Of Legends?
Arcane Season 2 has ended, and lots of people are talking about it as a whole. The story of Vi and Jinx has concluded, but there are more stories to tell in the League of Legends universe according to the main showrunner.
Arcane’s showrunner Christian Linke teased the prospect of a new series in the Riot Games’ MOBA title in a Twitch.tv interview with streamer & LoL loremaster Necrit94.
“We spent nine years at this point on these 11 or so characters, so there’s also something about wanting to make sure that we are able to tell the stories of other characters that we’re also really passionate about. Noxus, Ionia, and Demacia are getting shows and are [the] next steps into this cinematic universe.”
Furthermore, Linke said the next series is already in development for about a year. For context, it took 9 years to work on both seasons of Arcane, with 6 of them dedicated to Season 1. Don’t expect the next series to come so soon though, as animation studio Fortiche are going to take their time in delivering best damn show and animation ever. After all, the whole of Arcane’s production cost was US$250 million. While that’s a big sum, it is still cheaper than most big-budget TV series production budgets. Here are some words from showrunner Alex Yee on the production process and why it looks so damn good.
“You have artists who we wanted to have time to really be able to put in their touches and to have so many different disciplines in this really be able to do their best and show what they could do.”
Arcane Season 2 is out now on Netflix.
