Star Wars Skeleton Crew Features Adventure & Mystery In Its First Two Episodes

The first and second episodes of Star Wars Skeleton Crew is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.

You can head on over here for my spoiler-free review of Star Wars Skeleton Crew.

Created by Jon Watts and Chris Ford, the brand-new Star Wars story introduces a crew of murderous pirates in the era of the New Republic and six new characters — Jod (Jude Law), Wim (Ravi Cabot-Conyers), Fern (Ryan Kiera Armstrong), KB (Kyriana Kratter), Neel (Robert Timothy Smith), and SM-33 (Nick Frost) — on a rollicking journey among the stars.

It’s been a good year for Star Wars fans. Star Wars The Bad Batch Season 3 premiered in February 2024, Star Wars Tales Of The Empire in May 2024 and Star Wars The Acolyte in June 2024.

Check out my spoiler-free review of Star Wars The Acolyte by heading over here. Check out my breakdown of Star Wars The Acolyte Episodes 1 and 2, Episode 3, Episode 4, Episode 5, Episode 6, Episode 7 and Episode 8 here.

Episode 1

This Is Captain Silvo, The Leader Of A Band Of Pirates

He remains a mystery for us, for now, but he looks cool.

We see him lead a band of pirates raiding a ship’s vault. However, when the vault turns out to be empty, the pirates mutinee and rebel against Captain Silvo.

Captain Silvo is played by Jude Law.

The Kids In The Star Wars Universe Play Mock Lightsaber Battles Just Like Kids In Real Life

Kids growing up as Star Wars fans will understand.

Also, Wim can be seen reading some Luke Skywalker lore (training with Obi-Wan ‘Ben’ Kenobi in Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope). His Elephant-looking friend named Neel seems to be an Ortolan, who is the same race as Max Rebo.

More Luke Skywalker Lore From In-Universe

That seems to be from when he visited Dagobah to find Master Yoda in Star Wars Episode V The Empire Strikes Back.

And that’s probably from when he fought the Rancor in Jabba’s Palace in Star Wars Episode VI Return Of The Jedi.

They Find A Starship And Accidentally Go Into Hyperspace

The four kids of the crew are Wim, Neel, Fern and KB. The name of the ship is the Onyx Cinder.

May the Force be with you!

Episode 2

Meet SM-33

Nick Frost voices. SM 33, the decrepit droid first mate of the Onyx Cinder.

The name of the kid’s home planet is At Attin.

There’s More To At Attin Than Meets The Eye

There’s something wrong or something fishy going on with the kids’ home planet, At Attin.

In the first episode, they were mentioning stuff like the Great Work, and how there’s some kind of Barrier around the planet, making it forbidden for anyone to leave or enter the planet. The Great Work sounds like something a fascist government like the Empire would implement and the vibes are all weird.

Plus, both SM-33 and this pirate woman (pictured above) seem to not know about At Attin. According to the woman, At Attin is apparently a “lost planet of eternal treasure”.

Also, the boys are later apparently using Old Republic money to pay for their food, which the pirates notice.

Why would they still be using Old Republic money? Is At Attin still secretly an Imperial planet?

Jod Na Nawood Shows Up And Helps The Kids

This is Jude Law’s mysterious character, who can either use the Force or is just using some kind of trick as a scam.

We’ll have to wait and see.

Until the next episode, may the Force be with you.
