Malaysian Indie Game Kabaret’s Updated Demo Is Out Now
Developed by Malaysian indie studio, Persona Theory Games, Kabaret’s demo is finally out so go give it a try!
The game’s plot centres around a character named Jebat who has been cursed into a monster. To break the curse, Jebat journeys into a realm called the “Alam Bunian” and seeks the help of the charismatic owner of Kabaret, known only as The Caretaker.
The Caretaker tasks Jebat with providing tasseomancy services to the dwellers of the Kabaret. And let me tell you, the dwellers are not your ordinary patrons. They’re all mythical creatures from Southeast Asian folklore and legends.
As Jebat listens to their unique stories and provides advice through tasseomancy, he gathers information on how to break his curse. Each creature’s story is unique and provides insight into the rich folklore of Southeast Asia.
Kabaret is not just a game, but an opportunity to learn about the fascinating creatures and stories from Southeast Asian culture. The game’s attention to detail in creating mythical creatures and their stories is impressive.
The game’s soundtrack is also noteworthy, as it creates an immersive atmosphere that complements the game’s storyline. The music sets the mood for each encounter, and it’s clear that the developers put a lot of thought into the sound design.
