DC Films Plans To Release Up To 6 Movies Every Year

Warner Bros. has announced that they are planning to release a whopping six movies per year (starting from 2022) from DC Films via a mixed cinema/streaming schedule.

These include “up to four” superhero titles in theatres, and another two feature films on HBO Max.

In an interview with The New York Times, DC Films president Walter Hamada said that the more expensive movies will go to cinemas while the less costly but riskier titles will go straight to HBO Max.

These HBO Max titles will potentially be movies like Batgirl and Static Shock, which will be movies with smaller budgets. However, other movies will also receive possible spin-offs on HBO Max, as Hamada said:

“With every movie that we’re looking at now, we are thinking, What’s the potential Max spin-off?”

Last but not least, Hamada also clarified that the upcoming Justice League Snyder Cut will not be leading to more continuations, being described as “a storytelling cul-de-sac — a street that leads nowhere.”

In 2021, we’ll see James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, and others.

In the meantime, check out my official review here and a post-review spoiler piece here. Recently, Wonder Woman 1984 has also been called out and slammed online for depicting Arabs in an offensive manner (head on over here for the full story).
