Overwatch Contenders Pacific Reaches Its Climax This Week
By Kenn Leandre|April 30, 2018|0 Comment
Season 1 of Pacific Overwatch Contenders reaches its conclusion this week as four teams battle it out in the semi-finals and final rounds of the tournament. Having qualified past the group stages and successfully outplaying other competitors, the four teams vying for the cash prize and a step closer to careers in the big time – the Overwatch League are;Â Detonator KR, Hong Kong Attitude, Blank Esports (Australia) and the sole Southeast Asian team remaining, MEGA from Thailand.
Coincidentally, all four teams finished either winners or runners-up in the group stages.
The schedule for the semi-finals and final matches kicking off at 7PM on the 3rd of May (Kuala Lumpur/ Hong Kong/ Taipei) are as follows;
Winners of the semifinal matches set on May 3rd will be determined via a best-of-five (Bo5) series, while the Grand Finals on May 5 would be via best-of-seven (Bo7). Having breezed through their group stages, our picks for both semis are Detonator and Blank Esports. However, since both teams haven’t met their respective semi-final foes, anything could happen and we fancy the boys from Hong Kong Attitude to give Blank Esports a run for their money.
Pre-shows should start roughly half an hour before the matches and you can watch it all live here via the Overwatch Contenders’ official stream channel. If you happen to be in Taipei, then you would want to head on over to the Blizzard Arena in Da’an District Taipei. Nothing beats watching the action live.
