Major Changes Coming to Overwatch League Next Season

As we head into the final week of Stage 1 for the second season of the Overwatch League which is currently plagued by the triple-tank-triple-healer meta a.k.a GOATS, a silver lining for viewers emerged in the form of how the league will operate come Season 3.

As confirmed by league Commisioner Nate Nanzer, teams will play matches in their home cities as opposed to playing out of the Blizzard Arena.

Understandably, with Overwatch League teams based out of multiple cities scattered throughout the globe, a structure is being put in place to ensure optimal traveling which aims to ease jet lag and logistical issues.

This move also results in the league capping the number of participating teams in Season 3 to remain at the current 20.

According to ESPN, one of the two Los Angeles-based teams, the LA Valiant were the first team to announce a permanent venue – the Microsoft Theater at LA Live in downtown Los Angeles. It would be an interesting yet gargantuan task for the league considering the planning and logistics required.

As for us viewers, we are excited for the opportunity of watching the Overwatch League live in venues such as in China and South Korea. We say bring it.
