Apex Legends Teases Players With Cryptic Datalog, Here’s What We Think

If you missed the recent EA Play featuring the Apex Legends upcoming season, you might’ve missed the part where they revealed that ‘something big was coming to King’s Canyon’, the map we drop into every game.

SOME BIG THING

Something really big. Godzilla level big.

Today, the Apex Legends Twitter tweeted something rather cryptic for us to decipher. Luckily, we have Kakuchopurei’s resident Apex Legends player around. So let’s see what Respawn has put on the table.

The message reads:

L001 is moving southbound at a rate of ten klicks per hour after a sixteen-hour rest interval. This is yet another significant rest-time reduction. We suspect L001 is exhibiting signs of territorial behaviour or distress. We will continue gathering data and attempt to determine the cause.

The memo which reads “What’s wrong with Rosie???” is slapped on the monitor, which implies the Leviathan, or L001 is affectionately called Rosie by this organisation or entity that’s studying the Leviathan‘s behaviour.

This explains the movement pattern of one of the Leviathans since launch day of the game. If you’ve been focusing on hot drops and haven’t paid attention to the background, we have you covered.

We can assume that Rosie is headed towards Thunderdome. For what reason, we don’t know at the moment.

Here’s an interesting piece of lore for you: the Repulsor facility on the map is supposed to keep the massive Leviathan at bay, according to the Titanfall fan Wiki.

Repulsor Towers, otherwise referred to as Wildlife Repulsor Towers or Dog Whistle Towers, are massive pieces of technology developed by the Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation, for the purposes of security and defence against alien fauna such as Leviathans and Flyers. They emit sound at a frequency inaudible to human ears, that is extremely loud and piercing to animals that can hear it – this keeps the animals away from critical IMC installations.

The Repulsor facility is keeping the Giants in check.

What I anticipate in the upcoming season is that the Leviathans are waiting for the Repulsor facility to go down, and once the only deterrent is deactivated, the Leviathans will roam on the map. I remember reading somewhere that the Artillery has something to do with keeping the giants where they are as well.

This is definitely top-notch world building and lore building in progress here. Respawn is piecing up the game to be an industry standard in the battle royale genre.

We’ve covered more about Apex Legendsupcoming season Battle Charge here, and included another piece of lore in regards to the game’s mechanics.
