All You Need To Know About The eRacing Grand Prix SEA Semi-Finals
By Alleef Ashaari|August 13, 2019|0 Comment
The competition is heating up as the top 45 drivers in the eRacing Grand Prix SEA will participate in the semi-finals, which is set to take place this weekend at 3 Damansara Shopping Mall in Petaling Jaya from 17 to 18 August 2019.
The 45 drivers who qualify will be divided into three groups (Red, Blue, and Green) and coached by local professional racing drivers, including the likes of Adam Khalid, Timothy Yeo, and James Veerapan.
The fastest (and best) driver so far is 25-year-old Mior Muhammad Hafiz, who set the fastest lap during the time-trial rounds (1:56.945s) earlier in July 2019. Aiming to qualify for the Grand Finals later this month, he said:
“After the conclusion of the time-trial, I have been practising a lot to prepare myself for the semis.
Motorsport has always been my passion.
I am determined to do well and prove myself especially when the championship is getting closer to its conclusion.
My goal is to be the overall champion and I will work hard towards it.”
Only a total of five drivers (out of the top 45) will progress from this weekend’s semi-finals and stand a chance to race for the ultimate prize in the Grand Finals. The eRacing Grand Prix SEA is a major esports event, officially sponsored by the likes of PlayStation, Razer, JD Sports, and more.
After the semi-finals conclude this weekend, the eRacing Grand Prix SEA Grand Finals will take place at the same venue later this month from 31 August to 1 September 2019.
The eRacing Grand Prix SEA will then head to the Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, and Thailand as their next stops where the winner in each country will be trained and offered a spot in the Formula 4 South East Asia Championship (F4SEA),
The F4SEA is an unmissable experience worth Euro $100,000, set to be the first step for the winners of each country towards achieving their dream of becoming a professional race car driver.
Here’s what former Formula 1 driver and Axle Motorsport founder Alex Yoong had to say about the competition so far:
“After observing the time-trials, I am really excited by the talent displayed by the drivers especially those in the top 45.
I witnessed some good drivers with exceptional racing skills and I am convinced we are going to have a really good competition.
Moving forward, we will make sure that the format is a lot more interesting for the competitors by featuring different races or reverse grids.â€
