Riot’s League Of Legends Card Game Enters Open Beta Later This Month
By Burhanudin Zamri|January 13, 2020|0 Comment
Last year, Riot Games announced a bevy of new League of Legends-related titles that are set to release in 2020. One of them is Legends of Runeterra, a card game not unlike that of Hearthstone. The game will go into open beta very soon.
[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7C7oZiGoRvs&w=560&h=315]The card game will be entering open beta starting from 24 January 2020. However, this is only for PC players. The mobile version of the game is still in the works but you can expect the complete game for both versions to be out within the first half of 2020.
You can pre-register right now at the Legends of Runeterra official website. Those of you who have participated in prior beta tests will have your accounts and decks reset. Do note that this will be the last time the game performs the reset.
That goes hand-in-hand with the introduction of a proper ranked mode in the open beta. Players can progress from Iron (the lowest rank) all the way to Master. It’s mostly similar to LoL‘s ranked progression but there is one significant difference. Upon achieving a new rank, you’ll maintain it regardless of how many times you lose.
This change to ranked mode is introduced so that players are able to experiment more in building decks. New card sets will be released each month in 2020 so to ensure that a rigid meta isn’t set too early, players can try new things without worrying about being punished.
New upgrades in terms of the social features are also introduced. There will be a social panel that will allow you to challenge your friends. It will directly import your LoL friend list so you don’t have to do it yourself.
Continuing the LoL method of avoiding pay-to-win mechanics, Legends of Runeterra won’t allow you to simply buy good cards. What you can spend money on are the aesthetic items such as boards, emotes, and Guardian pets that cheer you on during your playtime.
For more information, check out the Legends of Runeterra official website. You can pre-register there too.
