Leto’s Joker Won’t Be Appearing In Birds Of Prey

It looks like it’s goodbye to Jared Leto’s short-lived Joker, who first debuted in the awful 2016’s Suicide Squad. Birds Of Prey star and producer Margot Robbie has confirmed in an interview with Variety that Leto won’t be appearing in the upcoming movie, and that includes cameos or flashbacks of any kind.

Birds Of Prey will depict an independent Harley Quinn who just broke up with Joker, but the movie won’t actually show Leto’s Joker in any way. However, his presence will still likely loom throughout the movie, as the trailers have shown scenes of Harley throwing knives at a drawing of Joker and her blowing up ACE Chemicals.

In the same interview, Robbie also revealed what she thought of Joaquin Phoenix’s phenomenal turn as the Joker last year. However, she said that it would be unlikely for that Joker to appear in Birds Of Prey as well.

She said:

“[Joaquin Phoenix] did a phenomenal job.

I feel like the Joker film was much more grounded.

Ours is different. It’s heightened.”

Birds Of Prey is slated to premiere on 7 February 2020. In the meantime, check out the latest trailer below.
