Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 Fires Its Lead Writer & Creative Director For…Something

Something’s up with Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. Not only is it getting a delay from its release this year to 2021, but its developer Hardsuit Labs said that it’s going through “organisational changes” so that the game comes out on that new date.

Turns out that change involves the firing of the game’s lead writer Brian Mitsoda and its creative director Ka’ai Cluney. This was done based on a “joint decision made by the leadership of Hardsuit Labs and Paradox Interactive”. According to a Rock Paper Shotgun report, this firing came as a shock as Mitsoda was “suddenly terminated” on 16th July.

The fact that it was a shock “would be underselling it”, according to him. In fact, he wasn’t even aware of the reasons for the repeated delays. “I was not part of the conversations that led to the decision to delay production, and to my knowledge, there were no delays caused by the Bloodlines 2 narrative development”.

So who will be replacing Cluney? Game design consultant Alexandre Mandryka, who formerly did creative consultant work in the Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry franchise, will fill in the creative director role. The loss of two integral developers of the game may be a huge blow to Bloodlines 2, especially with the way they were let go. Time will tell if the game might pan out just fine despite these turmoils.
