Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Had The Biggest Launch In Franchise History

Only about a week after its release on 10 November 2020, Ubisoft has announced that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla had the biggest launch in the history of the franchise, which spans more than a decade since 2007’s Assassin’s Creed.

According to the French developer/publisher, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has sold more units in its first week than any other Assassin’s Creed game sold during the same period.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has also broken the record for biggest PC launch for any Ubisoft game ever. For comparison, analyst Daniel Ahmad tweeted that 2012’s Assassin’s Creed 3 was previously the biggest launch in the franchise, selling 3.5 million units in its first week.

What this means is that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla must have sold even more than 3.5 million units in its first week, though we still don’t have any exact numbers.

Statistics provided by Ubisoft’s press release revealed that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla players have already collectively covered more than four million kilometres, built over 55 million buildings in their settlements and players over 3.5 million games of Orlog have been won so far. In addition, over 1.8 million players have won at least one drinking game since launch.

In the meantime, check out our full review of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla here, or head on over here for our guide on how to be the best Viking in the game.
