Square Enix’s Project Athia Will Be A PS5 Exclusive For 2 Years…

PlayStation might be securing new kinds of exclusivity clauses with their closest partners if the recent PS5 trailer is of any indication.

According to the company’s new and upcoming games trailer, Square Enix action RPG Project Athia will be a PS5 exclusive like Final Fantasy XVI. The former will be an exclusive for the console until at least 24 months after its release date, which is filed between “god knows when” and “when it’s ready”.

Project Athia will also be out on PC, so even if you don’t have a PS5 in 2021 and beyond, you can still play it on your personal rig. One wonders if this is PlayStation’s counter against Xbox acquiring the whole of Zenimax and Bethesda: getting Square Enix to side with the State of Play.
