Bethesda Will Be Critical To Xbox’s Progress, Says Phil Spencer

The most recent Xbox podcast hosted by Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb featured a lengthy topic discussion about the recent Bethesda acquisition.

The man on point in the discussion? Xbox division head honcho Phil Spencer. He said the following:

  • The Xbox and Bethesda deal’s final approval will come in 2021.
  • Right now, Microsoft is “hands-off” with Bethesda since the deal hasn’t gone through yet.
  • He added that Bethesda’s many, many teams will be “very, very critical” to Xbox’s progress going forward.
  • Bethesda’s slew of games in 2021 and beyond include Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI.

They can’t really say much until the approval and can only dance around words in these interviews for now. But our guess is that most of Bethesda games will be exclusive for the Xbox/PC ecosystem. That’s good news for PC and Xbox gamers.
