Pixar’s Luca Gets Its First Beautiful Trailer

Pixar is returning with their first animated feature film of 2021 with Luca. The film marks the feature debut of director Enrico Casarosa, who worked on previous Pixar movies such as Up and Coco. The story follows a young boy having a fun summer with a new friend while also hiding a secret: he’s a sea monster from another world.

Check out the synopsis for Pixar’s Luca below:

“Set in a beautiful seaside town on the Italian Riviera, the original animated feature is a coming-of-age story about one young boy experiencing an unforgettable summer filled with gelato, pasta, and endless scooter rides.

Luca shares these adventures with his newfound best friend, but all the fun is threatened by a deeply-held secret: he is a sea monster from another world just below the water’s surface.”

The voice cast for Luca includes:

  • Jacob Tremblay as protagonist Luca Paguro, a bright and inventive 13-year-old sea monster with endless curiosity — especially when it comes to the mysterious world above the sea.
  • Jack Dylan Grazer as Alberto Scorfano, an independent, free-spirited teenage sea monster with unbridled enthusiasm for the human world.
  • Emma Berman as Giulia, an outgoing and charming adventurer who befriends Luca and Alberto.
  • Maya Rudolph as Daniela, Luca’s mother.
  • Marco Barricelli as Massimo, Giulia’s father.
  • Jim Gaffigan as Lorenzo, Luca’s father.

A new original Pixar animated movie is always welcome, especially hot off the heels of 2020’s Soul (check out my review here).

Pixar’s Luca is slated to premiere on 18 June 2021.

In the meantime, check out the poster and trailer below:
