Kiryu Coco Leaves Hololive In Emotional Farewell Stream That Peaked Over 491,000 Viewers

VTuber Kiryu Coco is leaving Hololive after 2 years of playing games and entertaining viewers everywhere with her well-endowed antics and cartwheels. The news was announced early June, with the reason of her early retirement being kept private.

Her final graduation livestream was aired a couple of hours ago, and it was emotional and heartwarming for many viewers and her VTuber pals. Hololive mainstays like Watame, Luna, Towa, and Kanata all cheered for Kiryu’s future endeavours and also performed alongside her in a final concert. Coco sang her personal song “Weather Hackers” too.

The livestream above peaked at over 491,000 viewers, making this the most-watched livestream in Hololive and VTuber history. She will be missed by many of her online fans. The #GoodbyeCoco hashtag is currently trending on Twitter as we speak.

Coco is one of Hololive’s most popular video game streamers, with 1.18 million YouTube subscribers at the time of writing. Effectively bilingual in Japanese and English, the streamer garnered a large Western audience with content such as asking Reddit members to submit memes for review. She also plays a lot of Among Us, Mario Kart 8, and the Yakuza series. Hence the “Kiryu” moniker.

Coco was also pushing for English-focused VTubers behind the scenes, proven right with the explosive success of the first English generation. Every first-gen English VTuber now boasts over one million subscribers, with Gawr Gura at a staggering 2.81 million, the most of any Hololive member.
