T1 League Of Legends COO John Kim Passes Away

T1 League Of Legends Chief Operating Officer John Kim has passed away. According to the official tweet announcing his death, he passed away today on 16 July 2021 due to unspecified health issues.

“A message from T1

It is with profound sadness that we inform you of the passing of our COO, John Kim. After being hospitalized on July 7 due to health issues, John passed away on July 16, 2021.

John has been instrumental in building T1, working tirelessly for our players and staff and he will be missed dearly. While we mourn the loss of our dear friend and colleague, we will also continue to celebrate his life and the time we had with him.

Please keep John’s family in your thoughts as they go through this difficult time.”

The late Kim became the COO of T1 League Of Legends in 2019. Before that, he started his career as the founder of TSB Communications in Vancouver, Canada, before venturing into esports. Kim was an essential part of the new joint venture for T1 under SK Telecom and Comcast back in 2019.

It is now one of the most successful esports organizations in the world. T1’s League Of Legends team has won the 2013, 2015, and 2016 editions of the League of Legends World Championship. They also have teams for other games like Apex Legends, League of Legends, Fortnite, Hearthstone, PUBG, Super Smash Bros, Dota 2, Pokémon, Valorant, and Overwatch.
