Diablo Immortal Has Made US$24 Million From Microtransactions
By Jonathan Toyad|June 19, 2022|1 Comment
New data from industry tracking website AppMagic (via PCGamesN) has revealed Diablo Immortal’s revenue from microtransactions, the very thing people are talking negatively about regarding the new Blizzard action RPG spinoff. And it’s a doozy.
Diablo Immortal has made US$24 million within the first two weeks of its release. Major whales and folks who are giving Blizzard money here are players from the United States and South Korea; the game isn’t officially out in Southeast Asia until 23 June. The US contributed 43% of those earnings while South Korea contributed around 23%. I should say “contributing” as people are still giving money for the game’s loot boxes and other in-game purchaseables and drop chance increases.
It should be mentioned that the game is not getting any good PR as of late, with the game getting a really low user Metacritic score and people noticing discrepancies in the game’s way of drip-feeding legendary gems and other valuables so that players are forced to come back to play more. If they want to make the most out of their grinding experience post-game and post-level 60, they’ll have to comply.
