Ubisoft Reportedly Scrapped Its Immortals Fenyx Rising Sequel; Here’s Why
Ubisoft has reportedly shelved the development sequel of the 2020s mythological open-world adventure Immortals Fenyx Rising. Ubisoft’s leadership made the decision earlier this month due to the difficulties of establishing the IP.

According to VGC’s report, multiple anonymous resources familiar with the title said the sequel was in development at Ubisoft Quebec, the same studio which created the first game. Although the first Immortals Fenyx Rising received positive reviews, the game only managed to sell a moderate amount of copies, many were sold during heavy discounts. Moreover, its European sales were reportedly 70% lower compared to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which was released in the same timeframe.
Instead of having to establish an IP which provided a moderate sales figure, the company recently shifted its focus to a more prominent franchise such as Assassin’s Creed. The Assassin’s Creed Mirage is set to launch later this year, and Ubisoft is reportedly working on a remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.
Considering there is no confirmed announcement made by Ubisoft, we’ll just have to take this with a grain of salt.
Immortals Fenyx Rising was launched back in December 2020 and we had the opportunity to get our hands on it. To quote our review, we said:
“Immortals: Fenyx Rising is not going to win any awards for originality. Nor is it going to hide its clear Nintendo-based (or Skyrim-based) inspiration from its colour palette to stamina system. But it is charming most of the time, features a lush Greek god island to explore that’s filled with secrets and discoverables, and contains a ton of brain-teasers mixed in with some light-yet-hearty combat.”
