Bethesda shares Starfield plans for 2024 Teasing New Expansion And More

With the year finally winding down, Bethesda decided to give their fans an early Christmas present by announcing their plans for Starfield in 2024. They’ve also released some interesting facts about their interstellar game. The game, albeit not as talked about as Baldur’s Gate 3, has been extremely successful and popular hitting 13 million players including an average per-player playtime of 40 hours.

The team has just announced new features that will be coming in 2024 such as City Maps and confirming their first expansion for Starfield, Shattered Space that is set to launch in 2024 as well. The expansion will of course be paid content and will include “new story content, new locations, new gear and much more”. Players who have bought the Starfield Digital Deluxe Edition will get the expansion for free!

That’s not all! Bethesda has promised to provide “updates roughly every six weeks starting in February”. The team has said that these updates will include everything from Quality of Life tweaks to content and feature updates. These updates will roll out via Steam Beta Branch first.

Other changes promised by the team includes adding new Gameplay options which will enable fans to have an easier or more difficult time while playing through the story.

“With these new settings, you’ll be able to alter your gameplay to allow for an easier or more challenging experience that will expand beyond our normal “Difficulty” setting. These will allow you to easily customize carry capacity, cargo access distance, ship damage, vendor credits, how you suffer afflictions, new survival mechanics, and more.” – Bethesda Game Studios writes.

Most importantly, Bethesda has promised that “official mod support will be coming to Starfield with the launch of Creations.” The team has promised that “early next year, Starfield will be getting its own exporter, and you’ll have access to a new Creation kit.”

“Modding has always been an enormous part of our games, with incredible community-made content constantly bringing fresh new experiences. With the scale and systems in Starfield, we can’t wait to see what you come up with!”
