[Report] Is Singapore’s “Fastest Growing” Esports Site Spout 360 Shutting Down?

This story is still developing.

It is a sad day for Southeast Asia esports news. We think.

Online publication Spout 360 is reportedly not active after weeks of inactivity and publishing nothing but syndicated news to fill in the void. Spout 360 is owned by Spout Entertainment Group, which dubs itself as the “the fastest growing E-Entertainment company in Southeast Asia.”

Here is a screenshot of the site when Kakuchopurei tried to access spout360.com.

Sources close to Kakuchopurei revealed that the majority of its staff left during the tail end of March. Kakuchopurei has reached for comment but has yet to receive a reply from Spout Entertainment.

We should also point out that the last update from its Facebook page was 8 March. This might hint at a possible company closure, but this is just speculation until Spout Entertainment makes an official announcement.

A Timeline Of Spout Entertainment’s Grand Plan To Enrich Esports

We decided to chronicle the many headlines Spout Entertainment created for itself during its 2017 tenure.

  • June 2, 2017: Spout Entertainment announced that it has bought over cybercafe Alienware Arena in the Chinatown area of Singapore; the cybercafe was creatively branded as Spout Arena. The Spout Arena’s Facebook page hasn’t been updated since March 13.
  • The following are comments about the establishment since the announcement.

  • Update: the cybercafe was shut down on 15th August. Anyone who has remaining credits on their SpoutPay apps will be given refunds.

  • July 13, 2017: GRVTY Media closes $726k investment from Spout Entertainment.
  • July 31, 2017: Spout Entertainment announced that it was going to launch an esports tv series with content distributor Aurora Media Holdings. Spout Entertainment CEO Daryl Teo said that “This E-Sports TV Series and Movie Franchise will be able to leverage upon Spout’s combined base of 30 million unique global visitors across all media subsidiaries and we will be looking to further expand our reach via Aurora’s strong regional distribution networks of traditional cable channels and movie cinemas.” Since then, nothing has surfaced.
  • October 2017: Spout Entertainment hired esports personality Kira. Weeks after her presence was announced, there was silence. She has not appeared on Spout’s Twitch channel since.
  • Late 2017: Spout Entertainment launched Spout Agency, an esport body that “acts as an enabler for brands and companies who are interested to reach to these millennial users, in a more targeted way through gaming with verticals spanning – Media, Events and Team Sponsorships.” The LinkedIn page has garnered 44 followers.

Whoa! Does that mean that the achievements have been overplayed? This is really big news. Your talking about the person who won the best youth entrepreneur award.
