Netflix Unveils Interactive Map To Clear Up The Witcher Timeline

One of the major flaws of Netflix’s The Witcher is its confusing non-linear plot structure. Fortunately, Netflix has made an interactive map for viewers to clear up any and all questions about the events that occur in the timeline of the series.

Not only does this map reveal where Geralt was at the various points of Yennefer and Ciri’s journeys, but it also helps newcomers to the franchise understand the difference between kingdoms like Temeria and Nilfgaard.

In addition, it even reveals the age difference between Geralt and Yennefer. When they first met, Geralt was 103 years old, while Yennefer was actually already 72 herself. The timeline of the map is divided into four tracks, following Geralt, Yennefer, Ciri and general history.

The Witcher Map

Clicking on the timeline will lead users to the location on the map, which lights up depending on which characters are involved. The weather also changes, depending on what event you’re clicking on, along with other dynamic effects that add to the experience.

Scrolling to the far left will explain the Conjunction of Spheres, where users will see ink falling onto the map, revealing the monsters and magical creatures that were brought into the world.

Scrolling all the way to the right and the map burns away to reveal a message: “Va’esse deiradh aep eigean, va’esse eigh faidh’ar.” That’s apparently Elder Speech for “something ends, something begins.”

Head on over here to check out Netflix’s The Witcher interactive map for yourself. In the meantime, showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich has confirmed that Season 2 of The Witcher will only arrive in 2021, and will be more linear in nature.
