Junji Ito + Lovecraft-Inspired World of Horror Is Out On Steam Early Access
By Melvyn Tan|February 21, 2020|0 Comment
Black-and-white 1-bit game World of Horror is now available as a Steam Early Access release. Inspired by the works of manga artist Junji Ito and author H.P. Lovecraft, it blends disturbing Ito-esque designs with Lovecraft’s cosmic horror themes.
According to the Steam page, the gameplay will thrust players into turn-based combat and have them make difficult choices. It’s also described as being a roguelike.
As for the premise, here it is:
“The Old Gods are reawakening, clawing their way back into a world that’s spiraling into madness. In hospitals, abandoned classrooms, quiet apartments, and dark forests, strange appearances and unexplainable phenomena test the sanity of residents in Shiokawa, Japan. Is it chaotic retribution, or the machinations of beings beyond our comprehension?”
If you’re on the fence about the game, you can grab the demo on itch.io, where the game itself is also available.
