Covid-19 Is Affecting Netflix’s The Witcher Too
By Melvyn Tan|March 16, 2020|0 Comment
Another series production has been stalled due to the Covid-19 outbreak. This time, it’s Netflix’s The Witcher that has taken the hit.
As originally reported by Deadline, The Witcher is the first Netflix production outside of the US and Canada to suspend production because of the coronavirus. A source told them:
“We have made the decision, effective immediately, to pause production for two weeks during this difficult time.
This will allow everyone the time to make informed decisions about how to move forward.”
Deadline added that Netflix’s other UK productions are also “being encouraged” to take the same measures.
Production for the second season of The Witcher began late last month, with a bunch of new cast members joining stars Henry Cavill (as Geralt of Rivia), Anya Chalotra (Yennefer), Freya Allan (Ciri), and Joey Batey (Jaskier).
Just two weeks ago, Netflix announced that Danish actor Kim Bodnia would be playing the role of Vesemir, an old and experienced Witcher who is also the mentor to Geralt. The second season was previously slated to premiere in 2021, but we’ll now have to wait and see if that remains true.
If only Geralt could kill viruses.
