Even Dr. Disrespect Doesn’t Know Why He Was Banned On Twitch

Last month, famous streamer Dr. Disrespect (whose real name is Guy Beahm) was banned on Twitch for an undisclosed reason. What’s bizarre is that not even he knows why he was banned, as he finally opened up on his Twitch ban several weeks after the news broke. However, he does confirm that his time on Twitch is now over for good.

Speaking with Washington Post about the situation, this was his first interview since his channel on Twitch was suddenly removed in June 2020. At the time, he was just two months into a brand new exclusive contract with the streaming giant, which makes his ban even weirder in hindsight.

Dr. Disrespect said:

“I’ve been dealing with a lot of stress and anxiety.

You know, my wife and I both, this is our livelihood.

We worked really hard to get to this point.

Let’s just say I’ve felt all of the emotions that you could possibly feel.

Honestly, we just don’t know.

It was a total shock.

Imagine showing up to work and the doors are closed and you can’t get inside.

You’re going, ‘What’s going on?’

And you’ve been told you’ve been fired.

But you haven’t been told the reason why.

We just weren’t given an answer.

It was the worst feeling.”

During the interview, Dr Disrespect also revealed that he only found out about his ban while watching another friend stream, which prompted him to send an email to Twitch immediately for clarification.

Twitch only replied this, but neglected to provide a reason for Dr. Disrespect’s ban:

“As is our process, we take appropriate action when we have evidence that a streamer has acted in violation of our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service.

These apply to all streamers regardless of status or prominence in the community.”

In another interview with PCGamer, Dr. Disrespect confirmed that his time on Twitch has certainly come to an end.

He said:

“Yeah, that’s the kind of the mind blowing thing about all of this.

Obviously, for legal counsel, I have to be careful here.

But I can say however, that I will not be returning to Twitch, so, I mean, that’s it.

Let’s just say all the cards are on the table.

I’m more focused on just making sure whatever we do next, whether it’s a platform move or not, that it’s the right decision for the community and Champions Club that follows me.

And that makes sense to what I want to continue to accomplish with this character in terms of taking things to the next level, and whether it’s streaming or outside of streaming.

So it’s just being conscientious of that decision.”

Last but not least, the report also confirmed that Dr. Disrespect is considering streaming on his own website and has other options like YouTube and Facebook Gaming as well. Will we see ever see the one and only Dr Disrespect back in the streaming game? Probably, but not on Twitch, that’s for sure.
