We Now Know The Plot Of The Sonic The Hedgehog 2 Movie
Sonic The Hedgehog fans have been waiting to discover what’s next for the blue streak. Thanks to an eagle-eyed fan who was browsing through some government copyright listings, we now know what the sequel movie’s plot is. Obligatory spoiler tag if you want to go into the sequel to an all-ages film blind.
Thankfully, the story for Sonic The Hedgehog 2 sounds like it’s a lot more faithful to the games. Here’s the synopsis (via Twitter user Ninja_Risu)
After settling in Green Hills, Sonic is ready for more freedom, and Tom and Maddie agree to leave him home while they go on vacation. But, no sooner are they gone, when Dr. Robotnik comes back, this time with a new partner, Knuckles, in search for an emerald that has the power to both build and destroy civilizations.
Sonic teams up with his own sidekick, Tails, and together they embark on a journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands.
So, was just looking to see what Sega has done lately and ran past the Sonic 2 movie copyright and not sure anyone has posted this yet.#SonicMovie2 #sonicthehedghog pic.twitter.com/a6CrCyk4bG

Long story short, it’ll be less Tom and Maddie (the humans in the first film), more Dr. Robotnik (played by Jim Carrey), and more CGI anthropomorphic animals fighting each other and eventually teaming up against the Eggman. With Tails himself appearing at the end of the first Sonic The Hedgehog movie (as well as the appearance of the echidna tribe in the first film), the live-slash-CGI adaptations will definitely be sticking to the video games narrative-wise.
Sonic The Hedgehog 2 will be out in April 2022. In the meantime, here’s what we thought of the first film.
