Team Flash & Axle Sports Team Up Ahead Of 24-Hour Le Mans

Coming off the back of their maiden E1 Championship win,  Singapore-based Team Flash E-Racing Division has announced its partnership with Axle Sports. They will be competing under Flash Axle Sports at the upcoming 24-hour race at Le Mans on Saturday, 26 June 2021.

The race at Circuito de la Sarthe will be held on the rFactor 2 sim-racing platform and is the final race of the global Esports Endurance Series (EES). Flash Axle will be fielding two cars in the race with two teams of three drivers each for the 24-hour race.

Car #11 will feature Mohammad Aleef ‘Hamilton’ (SIN), Naquib Azlan (MAS) and Mikko Nassi (FIN) while Car #12 will be piloted by Mika Hakimi (MAS), Inigo Anton (PHI) and Cian Butler (AUS). Both cars will be racing in the top-tier DPi class and will be going up against 12 other teams in the same class.

Axle Sports founder and ex-Formula 1 driver Alex Yoong said:

“Both Flash Axle cars are going  up against the best teams and drivers in the world at the 24 hour race at Le Mans around  Circuito de la Sarthe.

It will be challenging, but we have won a race in this series before and  we believe our team is good enough to take the win.

This race will be the start of our exciting  partnership with Team Flash as they are one of the top Esports organizations in South East  Asia”

Team Flash Chief Executive Officer Mark Chew said:

“Our E-Racing team had a good start by  clinching the individual driver’s and team championships at the recently concluded Season 1 of the E1 Championships.

We are looking to further give our drivers additional opportunities  in the E-Racing world.

We are looking forward to the partnership with Axle Sport in particular  working with Alex on international E-Racing events moving forward.”

Both cars from Flash Axle Sports have qualified in the top 5, with Car #11 driven by Naquib  Azlan on the front row qualifying second while Car #12 will start from fifth place on the grid and will be looking to fight for the podium places.

Fans can tune in to Pitlane TV on YouTube and catch the action on track live from 9pm GMT+8 on 26 June 2021.

SRO GT WORLD CHALLENGE ESPORTS SERIES

Team Flash and Axle Sports have also extended their partnership to compete in the Stéphane Ratel Organisation (SRO) GT World Challenge Esports Asia Endurance Series taking place on 17 July 2021 around the virtual Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst, New South Wales Australia.  The hot lap qualifying sessions will run from 5 to 11 July 2021 to determine their place on the grid.

Flash Axle Sports will look to compete over three rounds among the best teams in Asia.

The GT World Challenge Esports Championship is a global virtual racing initiative organised by SRO Motorsports Group with each event streamed live across YouTube, Twitch and  Facebook, with expert broadcast teams guiding fans throughout the action.
