University e-League Malaysia 2021 To Feature Mobile Legends, Wild Rift & More

Esports Business Network (EBN) and Prime Sports International (PSI) have partnered to launch the inaugural University e-League (UEL), a nationwide collegiate esports league. Set to be held between 4 July to 12 September 2021, UEL anticipates the participation of over 300 university esports teams competing across 4 game titles for a combined prize pool of RM 20,000.

Scheduled to be broadcasted online, the league will feature some of the most exciting and coveted game titles including Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, League of Legends, League of Legends: Wild Rift and Valorant. Joining the frontline to empower students are the official sponsors of the UEL including MSI and SEGi University & Colleges, while other commercial partners are soon to be announced.

Students from both private and public universities across the country are welcomed to participate as the registration period commences on 14 June 2021.

Prime Sports International (PSI) CEO Yong-Chul Yun said:

“Drawing inspiration from the collegiate sports culture overseas, the vision for UEL is to harness a sense of pride in Malaysian students representing their universities while amplifying the values of healthy competition between higher learning institutions.

Working collaboratively with our partners, we envision UEL as a favourable platform not just for students, but for all stakeholders to engage and thrive on.”

Parallel with the competition, UEL additionally offers a practical route for esports enthusiasts who are looking to develop a professional career in esports. The alliance between PSI and EBN offers valuable avenues for students by opening doors to internship programs, workshops and on-the-job experiences within their organizations.

Sharing his excitement on the launch of the UEL, Adrian Gaffor, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Esports Business Network (EBN) added:

“The launch of UEL is a testament to our wider mission of empowering students with valuable experiences not just through competition, but also career-developing opportunities within various facets of the esports ecosystem through partnered programs.

It is exciting to pave the way for the future of tertiary competition while developing an ecosystem for camaraderie and teamwork.”

Students from public and private universities across both East and West Malaysia are welcomed to register for the University e-League. A Registration Committee has been set up to handle the team registrations and participating teams are encouraged to submit their application on the official website by 14 June 2021 to guarantee their spot in the inaugural tournament.
