A Live-Action Pokémon Series Is In The Works At Netflix

Pokémon is once again going live-action as a new live-action series is reportedly in early development at Netflix. According to Variety, Joe Henderson is attached to write and executive produce the Netflix Pokémon series.

Henderson is best known for being the co-showrunner and executive producer of the Lucifer series (loosely adapted from the Vertigo Comics of the same name), which will debut its sixth and final season on Netflix this September. He is also best known for working on shows like Hulu’s 11.22.63 based on the Stephen King novel.

Netflix is currently already home to several Pokémon animated shows, including several seasons of the Pokémon anime. The new Pokémon live-action series on Netflix is said to be separate and independent of Warner Bros.’ Detective Pikachu movie, which premiered in 2019.

Detective Pikachu wasn’t perfect but it was pretty good for being the live-action debut of the long-running franchise. You can check out my review of Detective Pikachu here. It might be a while before we get any details about the Netflix Pokémon live-action project.
