The 30 Best Games Of 2021: #1
Every day from December to January, we’ll be posting our top 30 games of 2021 daily. Here’s number 1.
Platforms: PS4, PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch
Ever wondered what it would be like to live in a world without colour? Will you bring colour back to a colourless world? In Chicory A Colorful Tale, you can do exactly that. It’s a top-down adventure game in a colouring book world where you can draw on anything. The premise sounds simple, but the narrative is what will make the game stick in your mind long after you’ve finished the 10-hour-long or so story.
In Chicory, you use your paintbrush and painting powers to bring colour back to the world by exploring, solving puzzles, and discovering a story that touches upon imposter syndrome, depression, and anxiety. But really, just the act of colouring the world in this game can make you feel good, which is sorely needed in 2021; a year where we’re still not safe from the yoke of the ongoing pandemic.
At the end of it all, bringing colour back to Picnic Province will surely reignite the colours in your own life.
