Xsolla KL Hosts Unreal Engine Meetup To Highlight Game Development In Malaysia

Xsolla, in collaboration with Mohan from Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), Sam from Circle Studio, Jeffrey Patrick from Ammobox Studios, and Dean from Epic Games, celebrated a resounding success with their recent Unreal Engine Meetup. The event, held at Xsolla KL, brought together passionate developers, industry experts, and gaming enthusiasts for a day filled with inspiring keynotes, invaluable networking opportunities, and exciting announcements.

The following topics were covered during the event:

  • Unreal Engine Announcements: What’s New in 5.3
  • The Making of Zombie Soup
  • Fireside Chat — First Experience in UEFN

Xsolla is a global video game commerce company that provides a suite of tools and services to help game developers and publishers sell and monetize their games.

A presentation about the recently released game Zombie Soup by AeonSparx showcased inspiring accomplishments and served as an example of a successful indie game. During the event, developers received insights and useful notes for their future projects. The highlight of the event was the networking session, where more than 30 different companies and over 100 attendees gathered to explore potential partnerships and collaborations.

During the Unreal Engine Meetup, Xsolla and Curine demonstrated their initiative to expand by introducing the Xsolla Curine Center of Excellence. This initiative offers three distinct options for aspiring game developers:

A specialized one-year program in the Game Development Academy designed by Xsolla’s team of experienced professionals. The program aims to close the skill gap by preparing students for employability and life in the industry. With Xsolla’s experience in the gaming industry, the company will bring in top teaching talent and develop the curriculum for the students.

The Game Incubator will provide mentorship for every aspect of game development, focusing on the importance of business and marketing skills. Participants will be guided in developing and applying these skills to their games, preparing them for the Accelerator program. Additionally, students will be granted access to the Accelerator program, which is dedicated to indigenous studios and talents aiming to establish a successful business with the support of bridge funds and mentorship.

Xsolla KL Managing Director Narishvin Sukumaran said:

“The gaming community is at the heart of everything we do! Our mission is to empower game developers to do their best work. The Unreal Engine Meetup is just one of the many community meetups we aim to support, fostering cross-learning between studios and developers.”

This event marks a significant step for Xsolla as they continue to make strides in supporting the game community in Malaysia. With the Xsolla Curine Center of Excellence on the horizon, aspiring developers can look forward to honing their skills and accessing unique opportunities within the Unreal Engine ecosystem.
