Everything We Know About Overwatch 2’s Clash Mode So Far
By Xandria Morden|November 5, 2023|0 Comment
Flashpoint, the new game mode was introduced quite recently to the competitive pool in Overwatch. The game mode introduced 2 new maps with this. Now fans have been begging for old maps to make a comeback, and this is where Clash comes in. Let’s all agree that nobody liked 2CP mode, regardless of how pretty damn gorgeous the maps were, which was unfortunate, because we lost Hanamura. Fear not, it makes a comeback. No, not the 2CP mode, don’t worry friends.
As announced at Blizzcon 2023, Hanamura makes a grand return, but as Hanaoka in the new mode built. So what the heck is Clash anyways?
There are 5 capture points on the map, unlike Flashpoint, these points are all placed in a straight row. The first capture point will start right in the middle, which means both teams will have to make their way there first (Lucio enjoyers, anyone?). Teams win either by taking the most points overall in the game or making it all the way to either A or E.
The devs have explained that the game mode is heavily defender favoured. This would mean that getting to either A or E point would be a challenge. It was revealed that Volskaya was the first map they had thought of when it came to this mode, and they even showed off the concept art that dated back as far as 2010. It’s not clear just yet which maps will feature in Clash mode, but we are hoping to see more old maps.
The devs also claimed that Volskaya was the first map they thought up this mode with, showing off concept art that dated back as far as 2010. While this mode feels like it’s being revealed a short time after Flashpoint’s addition, the devs seem to have been thinking on it for a while.
At this time, it’s not yet clear which other maps will feature Clash mode, and whether any new maps for the mode will be remakes of beloved Overwatch 1 maps that didn’t transition out of being 2CP maps.
