Overwatch League: Team Boston Announces Name

Team Boston became the fifth team to announce their official name for the Overwatch League when they revealed their that they will be called Boston Uprising. Based out of Boston, Massachusetts, the team is owned by Robert Kraft, Chairman and CEO of the Kraft Group. The Kraft Group are also owners of the current Superbowl champions, the New England Patriots and MLS team, New England Revolution.

And just like the Patriots,  the team will use blue as their primary color, as shown by Soldier 76 here. While it would be cool to have Soldier 76 as the team’s official mascot, we have a feeling that he is just showing off the team’s colors – just like in other sports teams. We expect to see the same colorway kitted on other heroes as to easier differentiate teams from one another once the league kicks off. So yes; you will get your Hanzo in blue with yellow trim.

“Boston has long had a reputation for challenging the status quo, especially during the 18th century, when it gave rise to people and ideas that sparked the American Revolution. It’s in this spirit that we are proud to announce the Boston Uprising, a name which evokes resilience and determination—qualities which we expect will be on prominent display by the team during the Overwatch League’s inaugural season. The team colors of blue and yellow reference the Boston flag, which has a blue and yellow city seal on a background of sky blue.” said Kraft, commenting on the reveal.

We also got additional information that the official roster reveal for the franchise will come tomorrow.

Boston Uprising is the fifth team to officially reveal their Overwatch League name, following earlier announcements of Shanghai Dragons, Dallas Fuel, San Francisco Shock and Los Angeles Valiant.

The preseason for the Overwatch League starts on Wednesday, December 6th at the Blizzard Arena in Los Angeles, California, with the first season starting on Wednesday, January 10th. Registration for the players closes on October 30th.
