Death Stranding Is Drifting Towards PC Shores
By Burhanudin Zamri|August 8, 2019|0 Comment
Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding was first revealed back at E3 2016. The debut trailer began with a portion of William Blake’s poem Auguries of Innocence followed by the words “Sony Interactive Entertainment presents”. Since that moment, we were all convinced that Death Stranding is going to be a PS4 exclusive.
A Resetera user named vestan recently found evidence that Death Stranding may not be a PS4 exclusive after all. He found that the game had been quietly removed from the list of PS4 exclusive games available on the official Playstation website.
To confirm that it was indeed removed, he even linked to an archive that kept a version of the webpage prior to the game’s removal. Up to 31 May 2019, Death Stranding was still listed as a PS4 exclusive.
It was also noted that the cover art for the game didn’t have the usual Only on Playstation banner printed on it.
Vestan further supports his argument with an archived Q&A with Kojima Productions posted by EU Playstation community manager Pad Poet. The Q&A was done in 2015 and has clear mentions of a PC release of Death Stranding.
Q6. What other platforms will Kojima’s first independent title be available on, besides PS4?
The title is planned to become available on PC (after PS4).
Q7. How long is the exclusivity?
We are not disclosing details.
Q8. Will Kojima’s second title (and beyond) not be PlayStation console exclusives?
We announced an agreement regarding Kojima’s first title, and SCE cannot comment on titles beyond that.
– from Kojima Productions Q&A with Sony Computer Entertainment.
Of course, there hasn’t been any official confirmation of a PC version but all this evidence strongly suggest will come to PC but perhaps a long while after its PS4 release. Otherwise, Sony might be seeing a lot of cancelled pre-orders.
