Google To Launch First Stadia Games Studio In Canada
By Alleef Ashaari|October 25, 2019|0 Comment
Google has announced that it will be opening its first Google Stadia exclusive first-party games studio/developer in Montreal, Canada. This was revealed via a blog post from Google Stadia Games & Entertainment VP and Head Jade Raymond.
What exactly will this Google Stadia game studio be responsible for?
According to Raymond, the first Stadia games studio will “produce exclusive, original content across a diverse portfolio of games in all your favourite genres”, which translates to the development of first-party exclusive games for the platform. However, this is just the beginning of their aggressive expansion.
In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Raymond said that the Stadia games studio in Montreal will only be the first of many. While boasting about how Google Stadia’s cloud gaming is superior to conventional gaming, she clarified that “it may be several years” before we’re going to see “a huge new IP that’s going to fully leverage the cloud”.
She also said that they already have “quite a few exclusive games in the works that will demonstrate some of the exciting things about the platform all along the path”. Despite all the promises and hope, how long are gamers actually willing to wait for these exclusive Stadia games to release?
By the time these oh-so-incredible Stadia exclusives releases in a few years, everyone will have already moved on to the next generation of gaming and forgotten about Google Stadia, just like what eventually happened to motion control gaming (PS Move, Xbox Kinect) and VR gaming (PS VR, etc.).
Google Stadia is slated to launch on 19 November 2019. For the list of games that you’re getting with Google Stadia at launch, head on over here.
