Star Wars The Rise Of Skywalker Will Be The Longest Movie In Franchise History

As Disney released the final trailer for Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise Of Skywalker earlier today, tickets for the upcoming movie also went on sale in the US. While that is undoubtedly big news on its own, the bigger news here is that the official runtime for the movie has been revealed as a result.

According to AMC Theaters (where tickets for the movie have gone on sale), Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise Of Skywalker will have a runtime of 155 minutes, or 2 hours and 35 minutes. That’s only three minutes longer than Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi (which previously held the record for longest Star Wars movie).

However, as long as Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise Of Skywalker, it’s still nowhere near as long as this year’s record-breaking blockbuster Avengers Endgame, which clocked in at 181 minutes, or 3 hours and 1 minute.

Check out the complete list of Star Wars movies from the shortest to the longest runtimes:

  • Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008) – 98 Minutes
  • Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope (1977) – 121 Minutes
  • Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back (1980) – 124 Minutes
  • Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi (1983) – 131 Minutes
  • Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) – 133 Minutes
  • Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) – 135 Minutes
  • Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999) – 136 Minutes
  • Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens (2015) – 138 Minutes
  • Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005) – 140 Minutes
  • Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones (2002) – 142 Minutes
  • Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi (2017) – 152 Minutes
  • Star Wars Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker (2019) – 155 Minute

Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker is slated to release on 20 December 2019. In the meantime, check out the final trailer below.
