Tencent Is Investing Money In The Folks Behind Bayonetta
Good news for hyper action gaming fans, we think. Platinum Games, the developers behind the Bayonetta series, Vanquish, and the upcoming Babylon’s Fall, will be receiving a capital investment from Tencent Holdings.
This is a basis of a new partnership between the two that will not affect the independence of Platinum Games; the latter will operate under its current corporate structure. This capital investment, according to CEO Kenichi Sato, will help strengthen the company’s foundation as a business and expand to self-publishing. “[This will help achieve] a wider global perspective, while still creating high-quality games that stay true to our name.”
Sounds all well and good, but when it comes to investments and promises of independence, nothing lasts forever. Let’s hope Bayonetta 3 and Babylon’s Fall still retains their design vision amidst all this.
