Ubisoft Files Lawsuit Against Hackers For Rainbow Six Siege DDoS Attacks

Four years after its initial release, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is still going strong. In December 2019, the game reached a concurrent player count of more than 138,000 on Steam alone. Like all popular multiplayer games, it’s also gained the attention of ill-intentioned people.

Ubisoft is taking the fight to those people. The company has filed a lawsuit against a group of people who allegedly ran a website called SNG.ONE. Apparently, the website allowed people to purchase access to the game’s server which would allow them to initiate distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks.

According to the lawsuit, users can pay around US$30 for monthly access to the server. Fork out US$299.95 and you get lifetime access instead. There’s also a screenshot of the website offering the same access for other games such as Fortnite and FIFA 20.

You can read the full lawsuit document over at PolygonPolygon. Ubisoft has asked the court to shut down the websites, and award damages and fees. It looks like the folks who operated SNG.ONE also had a Twitter account which they used to taunt Ubisoft but it is now under temporary restriction.
