Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin Sales Are Bountiful So Far
Seems like publisher Marvelous and developer Edelweiss has a lot to celebrate thanks to its sleeper hit of 2020, Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin.
The 3D platformer/rice-farming simulator has a combined worldwide shipment and digital sales total of 850,000 units at this point in time. Previously, the game shipped 500,000 copies since 25th November of last year. Because of this, Marvelous has revised its third fiscal year 2021 forecast.
That’s all well and good: Sakuna is a pretty fun game that teaches you a lot about rice and how it’s grown from its simulation bits. It also features a cute little story of a spoilt brat goddess learning humility alongside human companions. I personally wished the 3D platforming bits were a bit more “precise” with its controls and hit detection, but the game is still a noteworthy recommendation.
On a related note, the No More Heroes and No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle rereleases on Nintendo Switch has seen “strong sales” in North America and Europe.
