Final Fantasy XVI May Not Make It To Tokyo Game Show 2021
Final Fantasy XVI, the next major Square Enix flagship RPG, is going smoothly development-wise, though it may not be shown at this year’s Tokyo Games Show.
I said “may”, because that seems to be what the recent Final Fantasy XIV “Letter from the Producer Live” post from producer Naoki “Yoshi-P” Yoshida (via Twitter translation). Yoshida said that the game’s English voice recording is almost complete and its in-game scenarios are set in stone. The game’s development is going well, but Square Enix might not show it at this year’s TGS. Though to be fair, the producer wanted to show the game at its utmost quality so that people will get the “instant buy” feel when the latest trailer drops.
“I’m not sure if we will make that {TGS 2021] deadline. I don’t like throwing out bits to string people along with small updates, so I want to show it when it’s ready.”
Fair enough. This doesn’t guarantee that FFXVI will no-show TGS 2021; things can change and this update can be filed under “maybe”. In any case, it’s good to know that the game is still being developed for its possible 2022 release window.
