‘Manchester United’ Won’t Be In Football Manager Anymore

It looks like Football Manager will no longer be able to choose Manchester United as the club of their choice in the sim game franchise.

Following a trademark settlement between Manchester United and Football Manager developer Sports Interactive (and publisher Sega), Manchester United FC will be renamed “Manchester UFC” or “Man UFC” starting from Football Manager 2021 onwards.

This was announced via the official website earlier today. However, no details were provided as to how this will ultimately be implemented.

The statement simply reads:

Manchester United and Sega have agreed a settlement to amicably resolve their trade mark dispute relating to Football Manager.

Both parties are pleased to resolve this matter to their mutual satisfaction.

Manchester United isn’t the first football club to receive the same treatment. Previously, it was Italian club Juventus FC that was removed from the game franchise after they signed an exclusive deal with Konami’s eFootball PES franchise.

Football Manager 2021 is now available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, Nintendo Switch, Android and iOS.
