E3 2022 Will Be Digital Only
The biggest annual video game event expo will be a digital-only event this year, according to the Entertainment Software Association.
This is due to the ongoing health risks surrounding COVID-19 and the new variants popping up as of late (via Venturebeat).
“Due to the ongoing health risks surrounding COVID-19 and its potential impact on the safety of exhibitors and attendees, E3 will not be held in person in 2022. We are nonetheless excited about the future of E3 and look forward to announcing more details soon.”
The fact that last year’s E3 showing was not good and also being upstaged by shows like the Summer Game Fest 2021 also had a lot to do with it. At least from ex-Game Informer editor Mike Futter.
This is spin. I heard from sources in mid-November, before Omicron's emergence at the end of that month that the ESA had abandoned their dates for the LACC. https://t.co/2oIbkNDFBx

Dates for the digital-only E3 2022 have yet to be announced.
