Konami Let Silent Hill’s Domain Expire And Someone Bought It
By Fitri Razif|February 28, 2022|0 Comment
In case you needed more reasons to hate Konami, Silent Hill’s domain name has been purchased by some random person after Konami let it expire, for the second time.
Konami has seemingly given up trying to hide the fact that they don’t care about the IPs they own and their legacies, as the domain name for the iconic horror series Silent Hill, silenthill.com expired and someone actually bought it before Konami could. This isn’t the first time it’s happened, as in 2019 the domain name was up for grabs but was repurchased by Konami.
Now if you type in the domain into your search bar it’ll take you to a page with a tweet from Masahiro Ito that says, “I wish I hadn’t designed fxxkin Pyramid Head.”. Yeah, that’s it. In case you didn’t know, Ito-san is a renowned video game artist and was the creator of Pyramid Head along with many other nightmarish beings you’d find in Silent Hill.
The tweet in question was him expressing frustration over the rights to the mannequin humping character belonging to Konami and his distaste for following instalments to the Silent Hill series including the character. Pyramid Head was meant to be a one-off character that was unique to James Sunderland’s time in the fog ridden town.
While the Silent Hill franchise continues to stay as dead as James’ wife, the first game’s director and writer Keiichiro Toyama is working on a new action-focused horror game called Slitterhead, with legendary composer Akira Yamaoka returning for the project as well.
If you want to learn more about Slitterhead, check out our coverage of the Q&A session discussing the upcoming game.
