Payday 3 Server Issues Since Launch Are Now Fixed
Starbreeze’s third game in the Payday series had a rough launch, but the company has allegedly fixed it.
As of its 21st September launch, the online-only multiplayer PvE bank-robbing first-person shooter had mostly negative reviews on Steam due to players not being able to connect to the servers. The issue? Starbreeze claimed it was due to the game’s third-party matchmaking software which “encountered an unforeseen error, which made it unable to handle the massive influx of players”.
Starbreeze recently stated this week on its official website that it has fixed the initial matchmaking issues, with the service being stable and featuring good performance post-maintenance. Here are more words from Starbreeze CEO Tobias Sjögren concerning the situation:
“First and foremost, I would like to thank our players for the patience they have shown us. Our community is the engine that drives both our games and our company forward. I don’t really need to repeat that this was not the start we wanted, but at the same time, our business model is a marathon and not a sprint and we will tirelessly continue to build Payday 3 bigger and better to deliver the greatest possible value for our player.”
What’s next for the company and Payday 3? The game will now have more commercial activities, with its first update coming in early in October which includes 200+ quality of life improvements for all platforms. Payday 3 is out now for PC and consoles.
