Overwatch League: Tanks on the Move as Boston Lose their Main Tank While XQC Returns to the Pro Scene

Two huge transfer news happened today in pro Overwatch as Boston Uprising lost their charismatic main tank, Youngjin ‘Gamsu’ Noh who moved over to the Shanghai Dragons;

while ban-magnet, Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel is back in the pro scene after announcing that he’s agreed to join the Los Angeles Gladiators’ Contenders team, LA Legion.

So what does this mean for all teams involved? Let’s jump right into it:

Major Downturn for Boston Uprising

Not only have they lost a main tank with Gamsu’s departure, they’ve also lost a team leader who was pretty much the glue that held the Uprising together in Season 1. That departure leaves a huge gap in the Uprising starting lineup which leaves the team in tatters, just a few days away from the start of the new season. Gamsu’s spot will now most likely be filled by Uprising Academy player, Cameron “Fusions” Bosworth and Toronto Esports’ former main tank, Park “Axxiom” Min-seob.

Yuuuuge Upgrade for Shanghai Dragons

Gamsu is definitely an upgrade for any Overwatch League team out there and with his inclusion to the Dragons lineup, Shanghai’s elusive first win is suddenly much closer than we initially expected. He brings top tier Winston play to the table and we can expect to see several tank combinations  – perhaps even a triple tank strat involving Fearless and Geguri – coming from the Dragons soon.

XQC to Bump Up Contenders Viewing Numbers

The LA Legion pulled a massive strategy here in acquiring the talented yet troublesome xQc. The fact that they emphasized on his role as a ‘sub main tank’ when LA Legion only have five players in the roster says it all. It’s a massive marketing gimmick. And come on – Love him or hate him, xQc is too good to be a subsitute – the dude is a definite starter in at least 18 of the 20 Overwatch League team, guys!

He’s there to sell shirts, bump up viewing numbers and once the Gladiators realize that they have a talented as heck main tank idling in their Contenders team, will sign him up to their main squad.
