Former Final Fantasy XV Director Announces New Sports RPG About Pegasus Olympics
By Syazwan Bahri|April 12, 2019|0 Comment
Hajime Tabata, former Final Fantasy XV director and founder of JP Games, has announced their next game, The Pegasus Dream Tour. This title is the first official video game of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).
The game is created with the concept of taking role-playing games to the next level and creating an abundant future with games. It will have a 2020 worldwide launch date and will arrive on various platforms, including smartphones.
It also features people with wings. And a lack of pegasi. Maybe Tabata will reveal winged horses on a later date.
With the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games coming in 500 days, the game is aimed to promote the Paralympic Games.
JP Games provided a short overview, seen below;
The Pegasus Dream Tour, which marks the first title to be released by JP Games, is a completely new sports role-playing game, where players participate in a virtual Paralympic Games that takes place inside a fantasy metropolis known as Pegasus City.
Here, players awaken their special abilities or “Xtra Power,†in an alternate Paralympics world dynamically rendered in ways that only video games can achieve. The makers are planning for the “Pegasus Dream Tour†to be accessible on various platforms, including smartphones.
IPC Committee President, Andrew Parsons, said, “Ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, we are eager to explore innovative ways to engage with new and younger global audiences.” He also believes that the game will help boost the public’s interest in the Paralympic Games and makes it more accessible to people all over the world to enjoy and experience the atmosphere of the event.
Hajime Tabata commented saying that ‘this is no ordinary video games about sports.’
“JP Games is going to represent fully the wonders that are unique to Paralympic sports in this brand-new role-playing game, a genre we excel in,” he added.
“With this video game, we want to contribute to the future growth of the Paralympic Games, not just as a sporting event, but as entertainment as well, with contents that we hope will have lasting value in the future.â€
This is a great move by the gaming industry to spread and reach a wider audience. For those interested, you can visit the official website here.
