Spider-Man PS4 Sequel Coming In Comic Book Form Later This Month
By Alleef Ashaari|August 6, 2019|0 Comment
Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man for the PS4 featured a unique take on the friendly neighborhood wall-crawler, with a heartbreaking ending that reduced many Spidey fans to tears. Those looking for more of this version of the web-swinging hero will be glad to learn that his story will soon continue in the pages of a comic book later this month.
Announced by the official Marvel website, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Velocity Issue #1 is slated to release on 28 August 2019. It will be the first original story in the Marvel Gamerverse, continuing where players left Peter Parker in Marvel’s Spider-Man.
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Velocity will explore how and why Peter Parker builds the Velocity Suit, which is actually already available in the game. Spider-Man will go up against the Nazi villain Swarm (who can control bees), while Mary Jane Watson teams up with fellow Daily Bugle reporter Ben Urich for an investigation.
In the synopsis, our heroes are said to come face-to-face with a “poltergeist”. While this poltergeist has yet to be officially revealed, it’s likely the deposed NYPD captain Yuri Watanabe who has returned as the vigilante Wraith. Those who completed the side quests in the Marvel’s Spider-Man DLC: The City That Never Sleeps (or have read the comics) will understand how this could happen.
The new story will be written by Dennis “Hopeless” Hallum, with art from Emilio Laiso (Star Wars: Doctor Aphra), colors by Rachelle Rosenberg and covers by Skan. Check out the preview pages of the upcoming comic below.
Insomniac Games has yet to announce a proper sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man, though the overwhelming success of the game essentially guarantees an official follow-up.
