Apex Legends Is Getting Crossplay, Beta Starts Next Week

Respawn Entertainment’s Apex Legends will finally receive cross-play support across all platforms on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The new feature will go into beta starting from 6 October 2020.

According to the developer, crossplay will be enabled by default, but players can choose to opt-out of it if they want to. They also clarified that only crossplay is coming to the battle royale game, and not cross-progression, which means that items and rank will not carry over to other platforms.

As of now, it remains unclear if or when the Nintendo Switch version of Apex Legends will be part of the crossplay feature.

Crossplay for Apex Legends will work like this: console players with console players, and PC players with PC players. However, if a console player and PC player end up in a party together, they will be put into PC matches. This ensures that the console matches don’t have PC players in them, but still allows for console players to play with their PC friend if they choose to opt-in.

In addition, the developer is also launching a two-week Collection Event called Aftermarket on 6 October 2020. There will be new event-themed cosmetics and a new limited-time mode called Flashpoint, which will spawn bubbles on the map (called Flashpoints) that will regenerate health and shields.

In the meantime, check out the trailer below:
